DCI is designed to accommodate both Service Providers and Fiscal Intermediaries through two modes, commonly referred to as SP mode and FI mode. Each organization will use the mode that best fits the needs of their its company. If an organization runs both a service provider and fiscal intermediary, they it may have two instances of DCI.
