Throughout DCI the user will see blue hyperlinks which open pages such as entries, items, or page details. Clicking the hyperlink will navigate the user to a new page, leaving the current page.

To open the hyperlink in a new internet tab or window:

  1. Navigate to the page with the hyperlink
  2. Right-click the hyperlink
  3. Select either:
    1. Open link in new tab - Opens a separate tab on the current internet browser
    2. Open link in new window - Opens a new internet browser

*Please note: This action can be helpful when the user has used search filters to drill down and wants to view a specific entry. If the user selects the entry, the search results will be lost. Opening the entry in a new internet tab or window will allow the search results to be viewable and for the user to refer back to them and select other entries as necessary.

At DCI we are always striving to make tasks as efficient as possible for the organizations using our software. We know our search filters help organizations drill down to find the exact data they are searching for and we want to ensure that information is as user friendly as possible. The DCI team would hate to see users setting up extravagant search filter criteria to view multiple entries and their associated details pages and lose that list as soon as a specific entry ID is selected.

A tried and true method for maintaining your search results while still being able to view the details pages for all entries without interruption is to right click on the blue hyperlinked ID number and select ‘Open link in new tab’. Users can complete this task for as many ID numbers as they would like and still refer back to the original URL to view the search results.
