Description: In  In this topic you will , the user will learn how to add to add notes to any entity throughout the system an object (per your user access). Entry types include, but are not limited to:

  • Punch/Attendance Entries
  • Accounts
  • Profiles
  • Payroll/Billing Entries
  • Authorizations

*Please note: Notes added have no character limit expect notes added directly to a punch have no character limit except for notes added directly to a punch entry which have a 2500-character limit. For more info on entering a note on a punch entry, see "Enter a Punch" How-Topunch entry, see the Enter a Punch article in the help center.

Role Required:Any, including View Only Client, Guardian, Supervisor, Employer, Super User, Caseworker, Employee (base user)

Permission Required:Any N/A


  1. Log in with your personal profile
  2. Navigate to the details page of the entity you wish to add a note to by selecting the main menu and submenu for where the entity is locatedobject requiring the note
    1. Example: If you wish to add an additional To add a note to a punch, navigate to the Punch Entry Details Pagepunch entry details page.
  3. Click Click ActionsClick
  4. Select New Note Note from the Actions dropdown drop-down menu
  5. Complete the New Note Entry Formform
    1. Note Type:  (required) - Select note type from the drop-down menu
      1. Selecting Custom will allow you to select a Note Sub Type specific to your company
    2. Subject: Summarize the note
    3. Body: Add note content and format as desired
    4. Attachment: Add attachments as needed
  6. Click Save
      1. Options include Note, Comment, Error, Authentication, and Custom.
      2. Selecting Custom opens the Note Sub Type field (required)
        1. The Note Sub Type selected may prepopulate a template for the Subject and Body. This template text is editable.
    1. Subject (required) - Summary of the note or prepopulated if included in note sub type template
    2. Body (required) - Add note content. The note body may include a template if included in the note sub type. Must contain at least five characters.
    3. Attachment (optional) - Click the Choose File button to select and upload an attachment
  7. Click Save and Yes to confirmSelect Yes in the confirmation alert window
  8. The note has been added and will appear in the table on the Notes the Notes tab of the Details Pagedetails page. Notes added by other users with the same access will also appear in the table.
